As our contribution to the safety and well-being of our communities over the Festive Season, Wondrous Works is organizing a String of Fun & Health Community Sports Carnivals in the Southern Region to engage, unite and inspire wide spread behavioural change during the Christmas Celebrations this year. The Sports Carnivals will connect and bring the communities together; drive positive dialogue around the villages and create memorable experiences over the Festive Season.
The campaign is primarily a preventative strategy; The Village Sports Carnivals which will take place in the late afternoon into night time will provide alternative form of entertainment from the usual extreme partying and clubbing that’s leads to binge consumption and abuse of alcohol and substances; to a more sober participatory, active and healthy fun and a meaningful form of leisure; greatly reducing participants exposure to alcohol and substances. This will also promote the spirit of camaraderie, unity and friendships by encouraging villagers to form teams in order to participate.
The engagement will happen around a life size 5-a-side inflatable Soccer Pitch in each of the initial participating villages. The Carnival will take place in the evenings under mobile self-powered flood lighting tower systems to transform dusty village sporting grounds and create world class arenas that will dazzle and excite the multitudes and bring a great sense of pride whilst promoting these rural settlements. In order to increase participation and reduce spectator mentality, the same pitch will also have volleyball net and netball posts so that more community members with varied sporting choices may also participate actively.
